artist photo The Kokoon was formed by Danyx (voc, bass, keys) and Dirk (git, drums, bass, keys) in Berlin.

The former ballet dancer Danyx met Dirk at a concert of his former band that was signed to BMG in Berlin that time.

After this band broke up (Spinal Tap is true) Dirk and Danyx started to make music together, first as studio-duo, but very soon also live on stage with various musicians.

After playing in 2000-2001 they started to work on this CD in the end of 2001.

In the end of 2003 they decided to move to London due to Dirk's soundengineering work as well as to the idea having a change for something new.

At the moment they are about to get a band together to go back on stage.

About making music and influences:

Danyx: Well I think the way we work is influenced by all the impressions we get from art, people, movies, politics, social structures etc.

We are surrounded by.

We feel a bit like visitors and observers thrown into this world who sum up what they see and feel by the music.

Dirk: I also think there are many influences but it's not like: I want to make music like band x-y but it's more like: I want to be like the music of x-y,like it feels, what it suggests etc..

In this case you can definitely name some work of artists like Roxy Music, Talking Heads or David Bowie and others that kind.

At least I would say that we try to make music we'd also like to listen to even if it weren't ours.

I think that's for every musician and writer a good point to start from. "

This CD of the London based duo "The Kokoon" sums up the band's studio work of the past two years.

The music was written and performed by The Kokoon and recorded, mixed and produced by Dirk. Is it artpop or softpunk? You decide.
